Biography
I graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Performance in May 2014. During my time at UM Flint, I performed in five main stage productions, a site-specific community engagement piece, and several one-act play festivals while also having the privilege of directing two one-act plays and a full-length play. My training at UM Flint gave me exposure to all kinds of theatre: modern realism, Shakespeare, musical theatre, comedy of manners, commedia d'ell arte, stage combat, Viewpoints training, Alexander Technique, Suzuki, ballet, modern dance, slow tempo movement, and more. I worked with local Flint theatres including Flint Repertory Theatre and Kearsley Park Players and volunteered as a performer at the Whaley House for three consecutive holiday seasons. I studied abroad in London, UK with fellow UMF theatre students and faculty where I was particularly mesmerized by performances at the National Theatre.
I graduated with my Master of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design in June 2016. My acting training began in the theatre, but my training at SCAD led me to fall in love with improvisation and both performing and writing for television. In my two years of graduate school, I wrote for and performed in a Saturday Night Live-style sketch comedy show; starred in the first two episodes of SCAD's original Student Emmy winning sitcom "The Buzz," while also writing for Episode 2; played Betsy/Lindsey in Bruce Norris' Clybourne Park; directed both a full length play and a 10-minute play; and rehearsed and performed weekly as part of a long-form improv team. I am so grateful for the time I spent at SCAD because it gave me the skills I needed to round out my acting training for stage and screen, and helped me find and refine my passion for comedy through improv, sketch, and sitcom.
One of my beloved professors once said, "If you can find another career path, do it. This one isn't easy - don't do it unless you absolutely cannot bear do anything else." I can't do anything else. I'm a storyteller and a clown. I want to touch, provoke, entertain, educate, inspire, and mostly importantly, make people laugh and feel better. I moved to New York City in the fall of 2016 to pursue writing and performing comedy.
