Biography
Elizabeth graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Performance in May 2014. During her time at UM Flint, Elizabeth performed in five main stage productions, a site-specific community engagement piece, and several one-act play festivals while also having the privilege of directing two one-act plays and a full length play. Her training at UM Flint gave her exposure to all kinds of theatre: modern realism, Shakespeare, musical theatre, comedy of manners, commedia d'ell arte, stage combat, Viewpoints training, Alexander Technique, Suzuki, ballet and modern dance, and more. She has also studied slow tempo with professionals outside of the university. Elizabeth has worked with other theatres in the Flint area including Flint Youth Theatre and Kearsley Park Players and volunteered as a performer at the Whaley House for three consecutive holiday seasons. She studied abroad in London, England with her fellow UMF theatre students and faculty where she was mesmerized by the theatre she saw there and the cultural appreciation for it.
Elizabeth graduated with her Master of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design in June 2016. Her acting training began in the theatre, but her training at SCAD led her to fall in love with improvisation and acting and writing for television. In her two years of graduate school, Elizabeth was a contributing writer and performer on a Saturday Night Live-style sketch comedy show; starred in two episodes of SCAD's original multi-camera sitcom "The Buzz," while also working as a writer on Episode 2; played Betsy/Lindsey in Bruce Norris' Clybourne Park; directed both a full length play and a 10-minute play; and rehearsed and performed a long-form improv set on a team as part of a weekly show. Elizabeth is so grateful for the time she spent at SCAD because it gave her the skills she needed to round out her acting training for stage and screen, and helped her find, practice, and refine her passion for comedy through improv and television.
One of Elizabeth's beloved professors once said, "If you can find another career path, do it. This one isn't easy - don't do it unless you absolutely cannot bear do anything else." Elizabeth cannot do anything else. She is a storyteller; she wants to touch, provoke, entertain, educate, inspire, and share with the audience. Elizabeth moved to New York City in the fall of 2016 to pursue performance and writing for comedy. Since then, she has completed both the 101 and 201 levels of Improv classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade and worked on sketches that have been featured on the popular comedy website Funny Or Die.
